Guest: Michael Gorman, Founder of The Movement Family
Hosts: Joey B. and Coach Jim Bennett, Cohost: Mukala Kabongo
This week in the huddle we took some time to learn about The Movement Family, which started from a group of guys working out in summers in Methuen and Lawrence to an organization that offers assistance and weekly dinners in Lawrence for people in need. The mission of The Movement Family is for those seeking love, guidance, and support or just trying to connect with others and make a difference in the world. Michael shares his incredible story of starting TMF out of high school into his freshman year at Anna Maria College. Since then, he has been recognized by the Celtics in the Heroes among us and other awards in the community. We learned how area coaches have brought their student athletes to offer assistance at the weekly dinners and how it’s opened up their eyes to the world around them. We also spoke about the special friendship Michael shares with current Atlanta Hawks forward Georges Niang. Both Michael and Georges started playing together in the early years in Methuen. Basketball was in both of their lives but they went on separate paths and their bond remained strong through the years. Check out themovementfamily.org for more information and how to support the mission. Mukala and Michael joined in later to talk about the Mass high school elite eight matches, why no neutral sites and the upcoming final four matchups. Muk talk on what we can expect in Lowell at the State Championships this upcoming weekend.
