MELTED
What a night on MELTED! Steve Economou, founding member and drummer of legendary Chicago punk powerhouse The Effigies, joined Frankie Hollywood on WaveRadio Boston for an electrifying live broadcast.
Melted is presented to you by Rick Walker’s Rock N’ Roll Cowboy Clothes.
Steve took listeners straight back to the birth of The Effigies and the formative days of the Chicago punk scene, sharing stories from more than four decades behind the drum kit. From the enduring legacy of frontman John Kezdy to the underground clubs that forged the Midwest sound, this conversation captures the raw spirit that started it all – and how the band continues to push forward today.
We also dug into their hard-hitting record, Fire Aim Ready, spinning three blistering tracks:
– “Move Forward”
– “Voluntary Surveillance”
– “Fire Aim Ready”
The Effigies are far from living in the past. They are still writing, recording, touring, and driving Chicago punk into its next vital chapter. Huge respect to Steve Economou for stepping up to the mic and giving us an unfiltered look into punk rock history.
